Upper Makefield Township
Upper Makefield Township is located in Bucks County along the Delaware River, which separates Pennsylvania from New Jersey. The town of Washington's Crossing is aptly named as this is where General George
Washington and his army of 2400 men crossed the Delaware River on Chistmas night in 1776 in a surpise attack on the Hessians during the Revolutionary War. This battle, which ended up being a turning point in the war, is reenacted every Christmas day at Washington Crossing Historic Park.
Upper Makefield Township consists of 21 square miles, is largely rural, and includes many historic and scenic areas of local and state interest as well as significant farmland resources. Open space initiatives have ensured the protection of over 500 acres. Drive through this beautiful area, located 20 miles north of Philadelphia and within close proximity to Trenton, Princeton, Lawrenceville and Hopewell, New Jersey.
